seasons

I would like this website to become not just a storefront for me personally, but a place to discuss just what it takes to put together a bulletin every Sunday or a church newsletter every month (or twice a month or weekly) or a new ministry brochure or a poster for the youth fundraiser or...or...  I wonder just how many newcomers to the position of Church Secretary are totally blown away when they discover that their "secretary" job includes becoming editor-in-chief, desktop publisher, researcher, printer and ace reporter? The other day I sat at my desk blinking in awe at how I came to be the person my co-worker could confidently ask to find a picture of an empty mayonnaise jar. Really. How did that happen?

So this website is dedicated to all those church secretaries/admins/office managers out there who keep the liturgical plates flying while answering yet another phone call from someone wanting to sign the church up for yet another credit card, tactfully prying newsletter articles out of super-busy members, curing the paper jams of ancient copy machines, producing postage stamps like the loaves and fishes for still another surprise mailing, and opening their hearts to listen and hold in prayer another fellow traveler on this crazy journey together in "church life."

You see that title "Seasons" up there? And those trees in the clip art? Whether you are attached to a liturgically oriented church that follows a liturgical calendar or not, you know that there is a "church year" that flows, cycles and moves us all inexorably forward. I know there are times that I feel like I'm being dragged into the next season when I've just gotten used to the present one. "What? We're planning Rally Day? The kids aren't even out of school yet for this year!"

It's not just daunting, it can be downright exhausting! And confusing, and stressful....

So, I am offering here some tips, information, links, reviews in order to help make the seasons flow a little more easily one into the next.
